Marlborough

We are staying on a peninsula between Queen Charlotte Sound and Kenepura Sound in the area of Marlborough.  The Queen Charlotte Walking Track starts on this peninsula and runs along the tops of the hills here.  This is a beautiful area of rocky coast and majestic hills.  We are staying in a cottage overlooking Kenepura Sound, between Te Mahia and Portage.

Each day, we drive to either Torea Saddle or Te Mahia Saddle to take a day walk on the Queen Charlotte Track.  Some days the hike are a steep climb about 1,300 feet above sea level and other days we have more level walks.  All the walks have beautiful views of the hills and sounds.  Sections of the Queen Charlotte track are open for mountain bikers.  The people we met along the trail were friendly and fun to talk with.

Snow yesterday - about 2 inches. Definitely looking forward to warm, sunny days!
